Dr. Youssef Mohammed Abdelsattar Memorial Scholarship

The Dr. Youssef Mohammed Abdelsattar Scholarship preserves the legacy of an exceptional student from Kasr Al-Ainy Medical School (Class of 2027) who passed away in 2024. Dr. Youssef was not only a brilliant medical student but a visionary who excelled in computer science, research and entrepreneurship — all while maintaining an outstanding academic record.

A proud alumnus of STEM Ismailia High School, he ranked among the top 20 STEM students in Egypt in his senior year. His passion for interdisciplinary learning and relentless pursuit of excellence left a mark on everyone who knew him.

This scholarship honours his memory by empowering future leaders in medicine who reflect the same curiosity, drive and impact.

Questions

Do I have to be a STEM school graduate?

Yes. Graduating from a STEM Egypt high school is a published criterion for this award specifically — it is part of what the scholarship commemorates. If you do not meet it, the Financial Aid and Merit-Based scholarships are open to you.

Is this a need-based or a merit-based award?

Either. The criteria explicitly allow both: financial need for need-based consideration, or a proven record of academic distinction for merit-based consideration. Say in your statement which applies to you, or both.

What should the personal statement cover?

How you embody the interdisciplinary curiosity Dr. Youssef was known for — medicine alongside research, computer science or entrepreneurship — and how the scholarship would support what you are trying to build. Write it as yourself; there is no template.

Is there a word limit on the statement?

No fixed limit. Most strong statements run to roughly a page. Length is not what the committee is reading for.

Does applying cost anything?

No. Applying for a MeducateED scholarship is free, and it always will be. If anyone asks you to pay a fee to apply, it is not us — tell us at info@meducateed.com.

How long does a decision take?

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis rather than in fixed rounds, so there is no single answer — but you will always be told the outcome by email, whether it is yes or no. If your circumstances change while you are waiting, write to us and we will update your file.

Can I apply for more than one scholarship?

Yes. The programmes recognise different things, and several students qualify for more than one. Apply for each separately so the committee sees the full picture for each; you will not be penalised for applying to more than one.

What happens to the documents I upload?

They are used only to assess your application. Scholarship application data — including academic records, financial circumstances and personal statements — is treated with heightened confidentiality under our Privacy Policy, and is retained for three years after the process concludes in case of a later application or appeal.

If I am not awarded one, can I apply again?

Yes. A decision applies to that application, not to you. Circumstances and academic records change, and re-applying later is welcome.
